Bugeaters FC made it 3 consecutive wins thanks to a dominant 2-0 win over the Des Moines Wanderers FC on Saturday.
Playing at the Spring Creek Sports Complex (Altoona, Iowa), the Bugeaters opened the scoring early as they jumped out to a 1-0 lead in just the 5th minute of the game. The quick goal came off the foot of forward Diego Gutierrez. That goal would be the only one of the half, as the game went into half-time 1-0.
The Bugeaters doubled the lead with a goal in the 67th minute. UNO’s Gutierrez was again the goal scorer. With his two goal performance against the Wanderers, Gutierrez pushed his goal tally to 3 on the campaign.
The Wanderers were unable to manage much of an offense, with just one shot on goal.
Following a meeting of the teams and officials, it was decided that the game would be complete in the 78th minute due to lighting.
The Bugeaters have a busy week ahead as they head to Topeka, Kansas to take on USL2’s Kaw Valley FC on June 28th. The Bugeaters return home on Sunday, June 30, when they play the home leg against the Wanderers.
