Bugeaters FC hit the road this weekend as they travel to Iowa to take on the Des Moines Wanderers FC.
The match kicks off on Saturday, June 22, at 7 pm at the Cownie Soccer Complex in Des Moines.
Following a week off, the Bugeaters will be looking to extend their win streak to 3 with a victory over the Wanderers.
The Bugeaters won its last match, topping Minneapolis City SC’s U23 side, by a convincing 4-0 line, with all goals coming in the second half.
The Wanderers are a second season club, founded to focus on local talent in Des Moines. The club is 2-2-1 this season and is led by coach Sean Holmes. The club is coming off a 1-0 loss to Vision Soccer Academy, but has had two solid wins. Former UNO Mav and native Iowan, Fred Frimpong, should be in this weekend’s team.
The Des Moines Wanderers defense faces an attack that has had 11 goals in its last two games. Coach Scott Robertson’s team has come in to its own the past two matches and will push the attack again this weekend.
The Bugeaters should again be stacked with local talent. Forward Roger De La Villa was finally able to show his talent last match as he led the Bugeaters with two goals against Minneapolis. Jack Arra has also come in to his own. The Concordia forward has bagged a goal in the past two games but developed many chances.
The Bugeaters will have one more game away (Kaw Valley FC) before returning to Omaha. The next home match will be on June 30 at 7 pm when they will play the Des Moines Wanderers at Morrison Stadium on the return leg of this season’s matchup.
