Bugeaters FC alumnus and 2018 Supporters MVP Lewis Rathbone joins English club Bradford (Park Avenue) AFC.
Bradford (Yorkshire) ENGLAND - March 15, 2019 - Today, Bradford (Park Avenue) AFC announced that Bugeaters FC’s Lewis Rathbone has joined the club. The Yorkshire-based club competes in the National League North (the second step below the Football League) and is in the middle of a playoff chase. The club is fifth in the table and has lately been committed to finding young talent to boost its depth. The English native Rathbone was the Nebraska club’s 2018 Supporters MVP and helped lead the club to a successful 2018 campaign.
"I am excited to see Lewis join us at Bradford. His commitment and competitive attitude last season was evident both on and off of the pitch,” Bugeaters Chairman Jonathan Collura said. “We are excited to have been involved in Lewis’ development.”
Collura is also a Director at Bradford and actively involved in the day-to-day decisions. Since joining alongside CEO Damian Irvine last fall, the Club has focused its attention on a balanced squad with a development aim.
“Bradford has signed 3 ex-Pats out of the US university system this season. We are finding that there is a lot of quality talent that is available and we hope to build on this as a conduit back to the English game,” Irvine said.
Rathbone joins Bradford pending final FA documentation.
